EXP2 Final Submission

The volcanic Island is one of the representative landforms in Japan, which can create a corresponding regional environment for the monumental architectures. It is conducive to evoke the sense and atmosphere for the architectural landscape.

The geometric pathway on the waterfall is inspired of the pond elements of traditional Japanese culture. This is also accord with the design concept of Kenzo Tange: based on the geometric form.

There is a tableland connected between these two monumental architectures. It is an ideal space for student activities with a strong flexibility.

The aesthetic feeling of the daylight reflections and the openness of the space are shown clearly of the Kazuyo Sejiman’s monument. In addition, dark textures are used in vertical components for create a lighter sense of the floor planes.
